For large landscaping projects like mass plantings, ditch the shovel and pick up the BT 45 planting auger from STIHL. Its lightweight gasoline-powered engine goes where electric models don’t, so you can dig in remote areas. Ideal for mass flower plantings or deep root fertilization, this small, compact landscaping auger helps you work large amounts of soil more quickly with less fatigue. A primer bulb and throttle lock make the auger easy to start, while an anti-vibration system and ergonomic design make it easy to operate.
*The BT 45 planting auger is not for rocky, compacted soil or drilling large post holes.

I planted 155 3 gallon junipers on the side of a ditch bank in rocky compacted soil, just the type they tell you not to drill in.Yes,I still had to use the post hole diggers, but I never would have done this job without this auger. They have plenty of power and are put together well.It took me about ten minutes per hole.
this was rocky compacted clay with lots of roots.I did not expect miracles, but it greatly cut down on the labor.I figure it would have taken 45 mins- 1hr per hole w/o it.Great one man auger.Who says you can' t dig post holes with it?I do it all the time
